DoorDash Marketplace Integration

DoorDash Marketplace Integration

What is the DoorDash Marketplace Integration?

Unlock a new sales channel — managed entirely from Locally — with fast delivery from DoorDash. Add DoorDash as a new Sales Channel to reach new customers across DoorDash's 42 million monthly active users. Sync products and inventory automatically via Locally, so you can launch in days without changing workflows. Orders are fulfilled directly from your physical store, with delivery in as little as an hour.*

Shoppers find your products in the DoorDash app, place an order, and a Dasher picks it up from your store and delivers it to their door. This is all powered by the Locally setup you already have. No new integration, no separate dashboard to manage. Just dial in a few settings and start accepting orders.

*Based on average delivery time. Delivery times may vary and are not guaranteed.

How It Works

1. Locally handles onboarding for you. Once you've discussed the program with our teams, Locally will link your store details, inventory and catalog to Doordash.

2. Your catalog and inventory sync automatically. We sync your products with DoorDash hourly to ensure real-time stock availability. This comes from your existing inventory feed.

3. Orders flow back through Locally. When a shopper checks out on DoorDash, orders are routed through the Locally order system, meaning you are notified of orders and manage them via Locally order screens exactly like Locally Reserve/Buy Online, Pickup In Store or Same-day Delivery orders. Your staff gets the alert, picks the item, and a Dasher shows up to grab it, and you're done.

4. You get paid out by Doordash. During setup, you'll link a bank account to DoorDash, who pays you out through their standard payout cadence.

Managing Your DoorDash Catalog

The DoorDash 3P Integrations panel includes Catalog Management tools that let you control exactly which products appear on the DoorDash Marketplace.

Products on DoorDash gallery. The Products on DoorDash gallery shows the products from your inventory feed that are eligible to appear on DoorDash. You can search for specific products by name and use filters to narrow the list — for example, by brand or category — so you can quickly find the items you want to review. From the gallery, you can exclude a product to remove it from DoorDash, or restore a previously excluded product to make it available again.

Brand and category restrictions. You can restrict your DoorDash catalog by brand or by category, using your Locally categories. When you restrict a brand or category, all products within it are excluded from DoorDash. This is a fast way to remove entire groups of products without excluding them one at a time. You can lift a restriction at any time to make those products eligible again.

Default-excluded categories. Some Locally categories are excluded from DoorDash by default because they typically aren't suitable for marketplace delivery. Products in these default-excluded categories will not appear on DoorDash unless you choose to include them. You can review which categories are excluded by default in the Catalog Management tools and adjust as needed for your store.

Unchanged quantity cutoff. The Unchanged quantity cutoff setting controls how long a product with an unchanged inventory quantity remains listed on DoorDash. If a product's quantity hasn't changed within the cutoff period, it is treated as stale and removed from DoorDash until its inventory updates again. This helps ensure that only products with fresh, actively updating inventory are shown to shoppers. Adjust the cutoff to match how frequently your inventory feed updates.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What's required to go live on the Doordash Marketplace?

To enable the Doordash integration, you must:

  1. Be invited by Locally
  2. Have an active inventory feed
  3. Have in-store pricing enabled (see FAQ #2 below)
  4. Setup order notification recipients in the Buy It Locally Setup panel

2. Why do I need in-store pricing enabled, and what does the blocking message mean?

In-store pricing must be enabled before you can activate DoorDash. DoorDash requires an accurate price for every product listed, and that price comes from the in-store pricing in your Locally inventory feed. Without it, we cannot publish your catalog to DoorDash.

If in-store pricing is not enabled, you'll see a blocking message preventing DoorDash activation. This message means your account is not yet sending in-store prices in your inventory feed, so the integration cannot go live. To resolve it, enable in-store pricing in your inventory feed (contact the Locally team if you need help), and once prices are present, the block will clear and you can proceed with activation.

3. Which products show up on DoorDash?

Any product in your Locally inventory feed that matches to our master catalog and is eligible to appear on DoorDash. You can use the Catalog Management tools to curate your selection — search and filter the Products on DoorDash gallery, exclude or restore individual products, and restrict entire brands or categories. Note that some categories are excluded from DoorDash by default. See the Managing Your DoorDash Catalog section above for details.

4. How will my staff know when a DoorDash order is placed?

You'll get the same email, SMS, and dashboard notifications you get for any other Locally order. You can also enable automatic phone call alerts, so your store receives a call whenever a DoorDash order is placed.

To turn on phone call alerts, go to the DoorDash 3P Integrations panel and enable the automatic phone call alerts option. This setting lives directly within the DoorDash integration, so DoorDash-only retailers can turn it on without configuring broader local delivery settings. Just add the phone number you'd like called when an order comes in, and the alerts will begin.

  1. How do I confirm a Doordash order?

Orders are sent to you in a pre-confirmed state, so to accept the order, you do not need to do anything. Just pick the item and hand it to the dasher when they arrive. Once you've picked the items, mark the order as "Ready for Pickup" on the Locally order screen, which moves the order to a Purchased state.

6. How long do I have to fulfill an order?

By default, you have 30 minutes of "prep time" between when an order is placed and when the Dasher will arrive at your store. If you are ready sooner, click the "Send Dasher Now" button on the Locally order screen to have a Dasher dispatched immediately!

7. What happens if an item is out of stock when staff go to pick it?

If an item is unavailable before you mark the order "Ready for Pickup," you can mark it as out-of-stock directly from the Locally order screen. The shopper is notified and refunded for that line item, and the rest of the order proceeds.

If an item is unavailable at a certain quantity level (i.e. shopper purchased two, you only have one), you can use the Substitution feature on the Locally order screen to partially fulfill the order.

Once you've marked the order "Ready for Pickup" and it has moved to a Purchased state, use the Refund/Reconcile option on the Locally order screen to handle any shopper changes — such as refunding out-of-stock or removed items. At this stage, the Adjust Quantity and Cancel actions are no longer available; Refund/Reconcile is how you resolve post-pickup adjustments.

8. Who handles customer service — us or DoorDash?

DoorDash owns the shopper relationship: delivery issues, Dasher problems, and post-purchase support are handled by DoorDash's customer service team. Locally support is your escalation path for anything involving the integration itself: item availability, pricing, and packing orders.

9. Can I turn it off?

Yes, anytime. To disable permanently, contact the Locally team.

You can also temporarily disable your store on DoorDash directly from the DoorDash 3P Integrations panel — useful for holidays, short closures, or times when you're unable to fulfill orders. When you temporarily disable your store, you'll select a re-enable date. Your store stops receiving DoorDash orders for the selected period and then automatically re-enables on the date you chose, so there's no need to remember to turn it back on. If your plans change, you can adjust the re-enable date or re-enable your store manually at any time from the same panel.

10. Where do I see DoorDash sales in reporting?

DoorDash orders appear in your standard Locally Order History reporting, alongside all other Locally orders. You can also view reports within the DoorDash Merchant Portal, see here for more information: https://merchants.doordash.com/en-us/learning-center/reporting.

11. What is the Customer Phone number shown on a DoorDash order confirmation?

The Customer Phone displayed on DoorDash order confirmations is not the shopper's real phone number. It is a masking number generated by DoorDash that protects the shopper's privacy. The number is displayed in a human-readable format (for example, (555) 123-4567) to make it easy to read and dial.

This masking number only connects the call when it is dialed from your physical store's registered phone line. Calls placed from any other phone will not connect. If you need to reach the shopper, dial the number from your store phone.

12. What is the Business Type setting, and how does it affect my catalog?

The DoorDash 3P Integrations panel includes a Business Type dropdown that tells DoorDash which category best describes your store. DoorDash uses this value to help classify and present your catalog feed correctly within the DoorDash Marketplace.

When your integration is set up, the Business Type is defaulted to a value based on your store's information. In most cases, this default is correct and you don't need to change anything.

If the defaulted Business Type doesn't accurately describe your store, you can select a different option from the dropdown. When you save a new Business Type, it updates the classification sent with your DoorDash catalog feed on the next sync. If you're unsure which option to choose, contact the Locally team for guidance.

13. How do I control which products appear on DoorDash?

Use the Catalog Management tools in the DoorDash 3P Integrations panel. The Products on DoorDash gallery lets you search and filter your eligible products and then exclude any product you don't want listed (or restore one you previously excluded). To remove larger groups of products at once, apply brand or category restrictions using your Locally categories. Keep in mind that some categories are excluded from DoorDash by default, and that products whose inventory hasn't updated within the Unchanged quantity cutoff period are automatically removed until their quantity changes again. See the Managing Your DoorDash Catalog section above for full details.
